From now onwards, eco-cabs would ply on 1.5 km stretch between city’s prime tourist spot Sukhna Lake and Rock Garden.
The UT Administration and Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh on Tuesday launched the facility of eco-cabs in the city. Five eco-cabshas been procured by Ludhiana based company.
KK Sharma, Adviser to UT Administrator while inaugurating the first Rapid Rickshaw Transit said, “Environment pollution is going to be one the biggest problem in the coming years and keeping that in mind the eco-cab facility that is being introduced here will pave a new road to conservation.”
Bicycle Rickshaw cabs, introduced on the occasion, are light weight rickshaws which will make operation easy for the rickshaw puller.
However all the safety features are in place, various adornments like FM radio, water bottle, magazine and news paper facility, seat belts for passenger, first aid kit, extra leg room, comfortable seat and sufficient space for luggage of the passenger make this cabs one of it kinds.
