Fazilka, 10 January : Yesterday a new chapter has been added to the name of welfare by a God fearing and hopeful citizen of Fazilka. US based Daughter of Fazilka Geetu Pore brought something special for the most deserving section of the society this winter as their New Year & Lohri Gift. The benefited group are the mainly Ecocab operators, Night watchmen, Rag pickers and few school children. “There are many who can’t afford even a quality woolen in this chilling winter, they don’t need our pity, they need our concern”. With this thought, Geetu Pore came forward for providing “at least one quality woolen to the people from unorganized sector that are providing us inimitable services to make our living more cozy, comfortable and secure, we do have some duties towards them”, Said Geetu Pore, a force behind this unique initiative. Geetu took this task, in the fond memory of her Grandmother Mrs. Sushila Devi Baghla, who given her services as teacher to the town and dedicated her life in the service of mankind by various means of welfare. Geetu and her family is the one who took her task and carry forward the legacy set by her Grandmother. Geetu’s initiative is being welcomed by each segment of the society and many other came forward to extend their services as well. Instead of giving away conventional woolen for the sake of charity to the needy, extensive homework and survey on the kind of user, based upon their age group, financial background, socio- economic condition and relevant profession has been done. Decided to gift them the desired woolen like from colorful hoodies to protect them from winters and air drag while on move for ecocabs operators, additional woolen hand gloves followed by muffler and caps to those who are more into static job like night watchmen and rag picking including woolen cap and also few school bag for the needy school children. A total of about 350 people will be covered under this. “for a needy expenses on healthcare, clothing and education are of prime importance, this sometimes disturb their entire economy, government is taking care of free education for them, we as a social organization taking care of their medical and clothing need and also ensuring that the wellbeing should reach to the deserving persons; this is the only way to bring positive change, when the need of each segment of the society shall be well taken”, Said Navdeep Asija, Secretary (Admin) of Graduates Welfare Association Fazilka (GWAF). Idea of Smart Charity is being welcomed by each stakeholder and others. For the identification, GWAF has already issued the smart card to more than 250 Ecocab traction men and remaining are in process. “Our local team of youngster is always ready to help each section of the society and this is the only way to bring positive change, let more and more people get inspiration from Geetu” said Dr Bhupinder Singh, retired professor IIT Roorkee and patron of Graduates Welfare Association Fazilka. BSNL will presume its free telephone services for the Ecocab operations in Fazilka soon.
